A manager of a hardware products factory points to a laser cutting machine in the workshop, showcasing a recently completed customized parts order. Currently, market demand is shifting towards “small batches, multiple varieties, and fast delivery,” leaving many small and medium-sized factories struggling with the slow changeover and high costs of traditional equipment. Laser cutting machines are becoming a key to breaking this cycle.
Previously, the factory relied on traditional punch presses, requiring 2-3 hours to change molds, often resulting in losses after amortizing costs for small-batch orders. This year, the introduction of fiber laser cutting machines has completely changed the situation. “Just by adjusting the parameters in the system, we can switch processing categories in 5 minutes; stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and acrylic can all be cut,” the manager explained. Currently, the factory’s minimum order quantity has decreased to 10 pieces, the delivery cycle has been reduced from 7 days to 3 days, and order volume has increased by 40% year-on-year.
According to data from the China Laser Industry Association, in the first half of 2025, the purchase volume of laser cutting machines by small and medium-sized factories increased by 62% year-on-year, with small and medium-power models accounting for over 70%. “These types of equipment require no molds, achieve a processing precision of 0.01mm, can quickly adapt to multi-category production, and have a unit price reduced to 150,000-300,000 yuan, meeting the cost needs of small and medium-sized factories,” said Zhang Min, a researcher at the association.

A small appliance parts factory has even achieved “one-piece customization, 24-hour delivery” through laser cutting and digital management. The person in charge admitted, “Flexible production has allowed us to take on small orders that we previously dared not accept, and customer repurchase rate has increased from 50% to 80%.” Today, laser cutting is driving more and more small and medium-sized factories to transform from “mass OEM” to “flexible customization,” finding new growth points in niche markets.
Application of laser drilling machine in photovoltaic industry 2024-03-18
Laser drilling uses a high-energy-density laser beam to locally heat the material to a high enough temperature to evaporate, melt or vaporize it to form holes. The key to laser drilling lies in precise control of energy density, line speed and focus position to achieve precise p…

Advantages of UV laser cutting machine for PCB processing 2024-03-07
Ultraviolet laser is a laser that generates ultraviolet beam. Since the wavelength is 355nm, ultraviolet laser is more easily absorbed by most materials, and the absorbed high-energy ultraviolet beam will directly destroy the molecular bonds of the material, thereby achieving co…
